In September 2014, Eric Hanson adopted his first dog as an adult, at the urging of his two daughters. In came Anna, a pit bull-chihuahua mix originally from Western North Carolina.

Anna, now joined by her sister-from-another-mother Millie, a miniature pinscher-pit bull mix also from The South, provides inspiration for all that The Treelawn does. Although dogs and the interior of The Treelawn do not mix (music gets loud and local statutes object), plans are in the works for a Place of Their Own somewhere on the premises some day.
